UN Trying to Pry Internet Away From US Control

As some of you may know, various countries are putting pressure on the US to relinquish control of the internet. The UN believes it should control the internet, not the US. This notion is patently ridiculous. The United States government, along with several publicly funded universities, like UCLA, invented the internet. It is a creation of the United States and the world should thank us for it. Why on earth should we have to give up control of something our government invented? This is a big deal, folks. Do we really want countries like China, Cuba and Iran to have a say-so over how the net is governed? Many countries in the world greatly restrict the data that enters their borders. We paid to create the net and we sure as hell should keep a hold of it.

Here is an article from the Guardian that talks more about this issue.

I wouldn't worry much about this. It is not real likely.

ICANN doesn't regulate the internet much at all. US control maybe sound bad, but at the present time u can post all sorts of information on the internet without major censorship. Handing it over to iran and china will bring massive cenorship on what we can say and do on the internet.
